About the website.

Predicting Incidental Gallbladder Cancer is a multi-centre modelling study of patients having gallbladder surgery. We aim to collect the data needed to generate a UK diagnostic score for incidental gallbladder cancer. Incidental gallbladder cancer is a very rare finding in the UK. You can read more about the study here.

This website is intended to provide information, including on patient opt-out, and a point of contact for patients and researchers alike.

Can you help us?

For Both Patients and Professionals

Interviewing

Research Participation

Are you having gallbladder surgery, have you already had it, or are you involved in delivering it?

We want to speak to UK patients and professionals about their views on incidental gallbladder cancer, and on selective analysis of gallbladder specimens. If you are interested in speaking to a researcher as part of a qualitative study, please get in touch to to find out more!

Doctor and Patient

Research Collaboration

Are you a UK healthcare professional who works in a unit which performs cholecystectomy? We are looking for expressions of interest from collaborators for  the main study, which is likely to start in 2026-2027. Any member of the direct care team who is involved in the care of cholecystectomy patients may be a collaborator - check whether your unit is participating, or get in touch to find out more!

All Hands In

Research Involvement

We have been lucky to have a great deal of support from our patient and public collaborators and consultees to date, but would welcome any other experts by experience of either gallbladder surgery or incidental gallbladder cancer who feel able to contribute their time and experience to shaping this project as it progresses. Please contact us to discuss how you could help!
